Haras Mayed welcomes,
* Legacy of Gold
United States National Champion Stallion

*Legacy of Gold is exactly what his name infers. He is the representative of a heritage more precious than gold.
"We’re looking for just the right stallion for the daughters of Magnum,” says David Boggs. “Bred to mares of the *Aladdinn and *BASK++ lines, Magnum has done extraordinarily well. Consider, for instance, the magnificent National Champions Maggdalina and *Fausto, both children of Magnum out of a daughters and granddaughters of *Aladdinn.
Although Legacy is an almost total out cross for Magnum (they share only a few very distant, common lines including those to the Polish stallions, Amurath Sahib and Bakszysz and Wielki Szlem; and to the Egyptian, Nazeer), there are some very interesting parallels between these National Champions. Let’s look at the stallions themselves along with the first two generations of their sire lines for a start.

*Aladdinn~ Founder of a Dynasty
1979 U. S. National Champion Stallion
Pure polish stallion, syndicated for a record sum in 1980
Himself a grandson of Witraz, the sire of *BASK++
On his sire’s side, *Aladdinn carries the blood of Poland’s finest and most tractable athletes. On his dam’s side, *Aladdinn carries the blood of at least three of Poland’s most genetically powerful sires of Arabian type, Doktryner, Gerwazy and Miecznik.
*Aladdinn himself is known for siring horses of the finest disposition and overall conformation the breed has ever known. Among the important traits passed on by *Aladdinn are smooth top lines, deep shoulders, long hips and perfect legs.
He is the sire of National Champions in nearly every division.
His son, Allience (out of the *BASK++ daughter, A Love Song) has been U. S. National Champion Park Horse 4 times, Canadian National Champion Park Horse twice, and Scottsdale Champion Park Horse twice.

Alada Baskin (Legacy’s sire)
1986 & 1990 U. S. National Reserve Champion Stallion
An exquisite chestnut son of *Aladdinn, Alada Baskin is out of a daughter of Baske-Tu.

Baske-Tu: Reserve Champion Purebred Stallion 1970
Nafta, the dam of Baske-Tu was a granddaughter of Rapture, one of the most important early American sires of exotic Arabian type. A son of *Raffles, out of a daughter of *Raffles, Rapture had the intensity of blood to stamp his foals with his own beauty. He was especially well known for the huge, dark eyes that he had, and passed on with remarkable regularity. The daughters and granddaughters of Rapture were among the best crosses ever for *BASK++.

*BASK++ Founder of a Dynasty
The Arabian breed’s all time leading progenitor of National winning show horses.
*BASK++ virtually changed the Arabian breed.
A relatively successful race horse in Poland, he was imported by the LaCroix Family for their Lasma Arabians. In short order, he took the American show ring by storm.
He is the only Arabian stallion ever to achieve the titles of U. S. National Champion Stallion and U. S. National Champion Park Horse. Additionally, he was U. S. National Reserve Champion Formal Driving Horse.
His greatest achievement was, however, in the breeding barn. 27 years after his death, *BASK++ still holds the record as the sire of more National Champion sons and daughters, grandsons and granddaughters than any other Arabian sire, ever. And, they won in all divisions, from halter to cutting, from park to hunter pleasure. Particularly accomplished in the English division, the *BASK++ horses revolutionized that form of competition which is still dominated by horses carrying a high degree of his blood.
*Bask++ was the quintessential sire of beautiful athletes. Needless to say, they weren’t all beauties, but the percentage was staggering, especially when he was crossed on the beautiful American mares that traced to Skowronek and *Raffles.
*Legacy of Gold ~ DAM LINE
Khatar Firesember (Legacy’s Dam)
Is a granddaughter of *BASK++ through one of his two or three most exquisite sons, Fire Chief.
Fire Chief (Sire of Khatar Firesember)
Out of the beautiful Imra, Fire Chief is a grandson of Azraff (by *Raffles). Imra’s dam, Imri, was a double granddaughter of *Raffles. Hence, Fire Chief was a uniquely intense representative of that golden *BASK++/Raffles cross.

El Hilal (Sire of Zihala)
El Hilal was a straight Egyptian son of *Ansata Ibn Halima, considered by many to have been the most beautiful Arabian stallion ever imported from Egypt. Ibn Halima, El Hilal was a sire of exotic Arabian type and extreme quality. His daughters became some of American Arabian breeders’ most treasured broodmares. Carrying two lines to Nazeer, El Hilal carries one of Legacy of Gold’s few blood links to Magnum. (*Padron is a great-grandson of Nazeer).

Ga'Zi
Though this stallion appears in Legacy’s fifth generation, his position on the sire side of the tail female line, and his importance to the breed makes him worthy of mention.
By American Foundation sire, Abu Farwa, Ga’Zi came from one of this country’s most important foundation breeders, the Mekeel Horse Ranch of California. Ga’Zi’s dam, Ghazna was not only one of the breed’s most beautiful mares, but also one of its most successful broodmares.
A sire of many halter champions on both the class A and National levels, Ga’Zi is perhaps currently best known through long time leading halter sire, Bey Shah+. Bey Shah’s dam, the *BASK++ daughter, Star of Ofir, was out of a champion daughter of Ga’Zi.
Again, this is best known as the sire of extreme Arabian type, and of great show horses and broodmares.

Presented at every event by David Boggs
One of the most exotic and charismatic Arabian stallions ever to enter the show ring, *Padron began his stellar championship career in Europe before he was even a year old. In With David Boggs, *Padron made history and set hearts a flutter throughout the Arabian horse world from the time he arrived on American soil in 1978 when he was a yearling. In the years that followed, *Padron made history and became one of the breed’s most important sires, especially of the extreme Arabian type that belonged to him in such great measure.
*Padron was distinctive in his time because not only was he utterly gorgeous, he was a giant. Prior to *Padron’s arrival on the Arabian scene, most extremely pretty faces came on small horses, many being of the *Raffles and Skowronek lines. Add to his beauty and size his truly extraordinary presence, and you have a tiny glimpse of what it was like to see the glorious chestnut with the flaxen mane and tail dash into the arena beside or ahead of David Boggs who has loved this stallion beyond imagination since the day he laid eyes on him.
Sired by the big, powerful Russian-bred Patron, out of the lovely English mare, Odessa, *Padron is technically 1/4 th Egyptian, 1/8 th Polish, 1/8 th French and 1/2 English. But during the “Russian revolution” of the American Arabian horse industry, he was called Russian.
*Padron’s sire, Patron, was by the Nazeer son, Aswan, given to the Russian’s by the Egyptian government as a thank you gift for the building of the Aswan dam. Aswan went on to become the primary sire of Arabian type within the Russian breeding program.
Patron’s dam, Podruga was by the half Polish, half English, Priboj, a renowned progenitor of great running horses also known for his outstanding daughters.
Podruga’s dam was the Russian bred straight French mare, Dikarka.
*Padron’s dam, Odessa was of purely English heritage, representing many generations of dedicated breeding that ultimately traces back to the early English importations from the Desert in the 1800’s.
*Padron himself is the epitome of the very best of his pedigree and indeed, he is a stallion that stands on his own, like *Aladdinn and *BASK++, all three stallions having founded their own dynasties.

Padrons Psyche (Magnum’s sire)
1991 U. S. National Reserve Champion Stallion, presented by David Boggs
By *Padron, Psyche is out of the Russian-bred Kilika, a daughter of the great Arabian race horse, *Tamerlan. By the Polish, Arax (a son of Amurath Sahib) Tamerlan still, to this day, holds records on the Russian race track. Kilika’s dam, *Kilifa was by the very beautiful Kilimandscharo, a son of Aswan out of a daughter of Arax.
Psyche carries three lines to Aswan, again, known for siring exotic type. He also carries two lines to the Arax, renowned as a sire of fine and handsome athletes. From Arax also come extraordinary top lines and magnificent, deep hips.
Padrons Psyche has thus far sired a total of 1022 offspring and he has been a leading sire of halter champions.
*Magnum ~ Dam Line
A Fancy Miracle (Magnum’s dam)
A beautiful representative of her straight Spanish heritage, A Fancy Miracle is by the exquisite Spanish import, *Sasaki. Exotic in the purest sense, *Sasaki could be compared to such extreme beauties as *Ansata Ibn Halima, *Aramus, Garis, Gamaar, *Raffles and Rapture, to name some of the best.
Both A Fancy Miracle’s sire and dam lines are filled with the finest and most potent blood of the beauty and wonderful disposition producing Spanish Arabian horses.
From Magnum’s sire comes power, size and beauty. From his dam comes beauty and tractability.
From an immutable foundation, emerges Magnum, yet another individual upon whose potent genetics a modern Arabian horse dynasty is forming.
The Combination ~ Magnum and Legacy
Arabian equine royal families are now to be merged, there could be no better, no more natural choice, than bringing together the family of Magnum with the family of Legacy.
In combining the blood of these two genetic giants, the breed’s greatest horses of yesterday will bring the promise of tomorrow and to insure a future for the breed.
